Why should we be taxed before we get our paycheck with income taxes, and after we get our paycheck with property taxes and sales taxes? There seems to be no limit as to how or why the government taxes. Just grab at what ever they can, I guess.

New York State's income taxes, sales taxes, gasoline taxes, and property taxes all have taken their toll on upstate New York. And then your phone bill is pretty much just a receipt for all the phone taxes/surcharges you pay.

New York city is somewhat immune because of it being a port city with a lot of outside money pouring into it. The rest of New York State doesn't have that kind of an economy, so it has a harder time with the tax burden.

It's this one issue that powers the 51st state drive.

The only one who came close to saying anything about it was Hillary Clinton, who said something to the effect that "There seems to be a large disparity between the rich and the poor in New York State". To which I say, "Yes, you're right Hillary, the middle class is getting taxed out of existence in New York"! Which is the first step toward communism according to Karl Marx.

Taxes should be a certain rate, and government should not get any bigger than that rate allows.

One other thing that drove businesses from New York was the tax breaks given to businesses to move south by the Federal government during the Johnson administration. Maybe Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer can get the Federal government to give businesses tax breaks to re-locate to New York. But I doubt it. Businesses won't come to New York because of the high taxes. High taxes drive up the cost of everything. (Excuse me, they come or stay if they're given special tax or electrical cost breaks. To which means the rest of us have to pay more because these don't pay their fair share.)

New York State is the biggest money grubber going. There is no such thing as "fair taxation" in New York. Just "grab what ya can!"

Our founding fathers tried to protect us from excess taxation. But, again the courts will side with whom ever controls the purse strings.

It seems it's up to us to protect ourselves.

During their recent run for the Senate, both Hillary Clinton and Rick Lazio failed to acknowledge the root cause for the bad economic climate in upstate New York.

Taxes, taxes, and more taxes are the problem, and neither candidate even mentioned them.
